Sunflowers on the Dark Side of the Moon
Size: 40" x 40"
Year: 2004

Materials: cotton fabric, hand appliquéd, cotton batting, rayon thread for quilting

This quilt is an original design, based on a quilt by Valori Wells. I used Karen Stone’s New York Beauty blocks, decreased in size to a finished 5”. It was made for the annual Freckles’ Quilt Store Challenge at Heritage Park in May. It won First Prize, Viewer’s Choice Award.

Credit for the name goes to my son Sebastian, who walked into the studio and said that the “spiky things” reminded him of Pink Floyd.
