Size: 72 ¾" x 72 ¾"
Year: 2007
Inspired by Elizabeth Bren’s Zebra Fandango pattern published in Down Under Quilts.
The pieced blocks, a variation of the New York Beauties block, are surrounded by 250 appliquéd leaves. I had decided that I didn’t feel like using the border Elizabeth had, because I didn’t feel like cutting all those rectangles. So … I designed the two-color border, and proceeded to appliqué the leaves.
Materials: commercial cotton fabrics, silk batting, silk thread for quilting.
This quilt was juried into the International Quilt Association Show in Houston in 2007.
Won first prize at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede Show in July 2007.
On the Wings of a Dream appeared on the cover of American Quilter Magazine, March 2008.
Won First Prize at the Bernina Great Canadian Quilt and Fiber Arts – Calgary 2009.
