For Whom the Leaves Fall
Size: 64" x 84"
Year: 2002
Adapted from Quiltmaker Magazine - September/October ‘02

Materials: commercial cotton fabrics, cotton batting, rayon thread for quilting, embroidery threads and ribbons, beads
This is the first quilt I made when I returned to Canada in September 2002, after having lived in Buenos Aires for 8 years as an ex-pat. Unfortunately, 2 days before moving back, I lost my mother unexpectedly. This is the quilt I made for her. She loved leaves in all colors and shapes. The leaves were hand appliquéd, then cut diagonally in two and re-assembled. Once quilted, I embellished each leaf using different ribbons, threads, embroidery threads and beads. Each stitch helped with the grieving process. This is still one of my favourite quilts. I know mom would have loved it. She was my number one fan.
